Retainer Case with Mirror

Where the appliance lives when you are not at home.

An ultrasonic cleaner is a counter appliance. It plugs in, it stays put, and nobody leaves a retainer sitting in its tank. The rest of the time — at work, in a bag, at a restaurant, on a flight — the appliance needs somewhere to go, and for most people that somewhere is the hinged plastic box the orthodontist handed over for free.

How it works

Three parts: a clear chamber, a basket that sits raised inside it, and a lid that seals on top.

The basket is what makes the difference. It stands off the floor of the chamber, with four cutouts through it, and a soft silicone piece seats in the middle. The appliance clips onto that piece — so it does not float when there is solution in the chamber, and does not rattle when there is not. Pull the piece and the basket comes with it, appliance and all. No reaching into cloudy water.

Add warm water and a cleaning tablet and the chamber becomes a soaking cup: fifteen minutes, the same routine you would use at home, in a hotel bathroom. Empty it and the cutouts let the appliance drain rather than sit in what came off it.

What is in the lid

A tool deck above the chamber holds a brush and an aligner removal hook, dry and separate from the wet part. A mirror sits in the hinged cover — more useful than it sounds the first time you try to seat a retainer in a restaurant bathroom. The silicone gasket around the rim is what lets it travel in a bag.

Why we sell it with the tablets

On its own this is a container. With tablets it is the whole cleaning routine in something that fits in one hand. We would rather you bought the pair than bought this and wondered what it was for.

What it will not do

It does not clean anything by itself; it holds, and the tablet cleans. It is not a replacement for ultrasonic cleaning at home, and it will not lift staining or hardened buildup any more than a glass of water would. The aligner hook is a real inclusion, but most aligner kits already ship with one — do not buy this for the hook.

One appliance at a time: a single upper or lower retainer, night guard, partial or denture.

The lid carries the westwood name. Seravanti selects and ships; it does not manufacture.
