Retainer Cleaning Tablets

Sixty tablets, each individually wrapped. Two months if you use one a day; well over a year at one a week.

Water alone handles most weeks. These are for the weeks when it does not — after an illness, or when an appliance has been sitting in a case longer than it should have.

How to use them

A glass of warm water — warm, not hot; hot water can warp clear plastic. One tablet. The appliance fully immersed for fifteen minutes. Rinse it thoroughly under cool water before it goes back in.

With our cleaner: drop the tablet into the filled tank, run a cycle, then let it sit for the rest of the fifteen minutes. Rinse the appliance, and give the tank a rinse too.

How long a box lasts

The maker designs them for daily use, which makes a box about two months. Our own view is that once a week is enough for most people, and at that pace a box lasts more than a year.

What they will not do

A soak lifts the soft film and the smell. It does not dissolve hardened mineral deposits — the calcified buildup on an appliance that has been neglected for years will not move. These are for maintaining an appliance, not rescuing one. An appliance that has reached that state is a replacement conversation with your dentist.
